Dermaplaning

Request a Consultation Dermaplaning is a manual option for exfoliation of the skin's outermost layers. This non-invasive technique offers immediate improvement in skin's appearance without downtime. Dermaplaning is also popular with Orlando-area patients who are undergoing chemical peels. The procedure can make peels more effective by prepping the skin for optimal absorption of the active ingredients. On its own or in tandem with a peel, dermaplaning is an excellent way to maintain the health and radiance of your skin.

Let our skilled aesthetic professionals bring out the best in your face. Request a consultation online or call Primera Med Spa at (407) 936-3230 to schedule your appointment.

Planning Your Dermaplaning Treatment

When you arrive at Primera Med Spa for your first appointment, you will first meet with one of our medical aestheticians. The provider evaluates your skin and talks to you at length about your desired outcome. Together, you will determine whether dermaplaning is right for you. If you're a candidate, it's likely that you may undergo the procedure right away.

Dermaplaning uses a very fine blade to gently "shave" away the outermost layers of the skin. The procedure is not painful and typically lasts about 30 minutes when performed on its own. A single session of dermaplning removes the soft facial hair, or "peach fuzz," while also improving skin's overall condition. We often recommend a series of procedures, each about 1 month apart, to treat more specific skin concerns. These include:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Scars, including acne scars
  • Textural irregularities

What to Expect

Your dermaplaning appointment is a relatively brief outpatient procedure, after which you can return to your regular activities right away. Your aesthetician begins by cleansing your face. He or she may also apply covers to your eyes to protect them during treatment. Using a very thin blade, he or she gently scrapes away the outer layers of skin. Depending on the specifics of your treatment plan, you may also undergo a chemical peel during your appointment.

Enjoying Your Results

After your dermaplaning session, your skin's smoother, more radiant texture will last about a week. Many patients remark that their makeup goes on much more evenly after treatment, and their skin has a healthy glow. After a series of treatments, scars, lines, and textural concerns are greatly diminished, and these results can last for several months. Maintaining a strong at-home skincare regimen that includes sunblock can significantly prolong results and further improve the overall health of your skin.
