Planning Your JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC Cosmetic Treatment

As you may have already noticed, wrinkles are only a single component of facial aging. The loss of facial volume, typically caused by the displacement of fat and other tissue, can give you a gaunt or aged appearance that doesn't match the way you feel. Although it uses hyaluronic acid, the same active ingredient in many other dermal fillers, JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC is the only product currently indicated specifically to add volume to the cheeks. VOLUMA XC can be used to enhance 3 distinct areas of the cheek:

  • The apex, or top part just beneath the eyes
  • The apple, or full central part
  • The hollow, or lower, indented part

Using JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC to add volume to these areas can give you a healthy, youthful result without looking overfilled or "done."

What to Expect

Prior to your first treatment with JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC at Primera, you will have a consultation with one of our skilled injectors. During this meeting, you'll discuss your aesthetic goals and any concerns you may have. Your injector may recommend alternative or additional treatments, such as BOTOX® Cosmetic or another filler like JUVÉDERM® or Restylane® to help you get the results you want. He or she will also review your medical history to ensure JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC is safe for you.

In most cases, you may undergo your VOLUMA XC treatment immediately after your consultation. Your injector first cleanses your face. He or she then administers the product in a series of brief injections. Because VOLUMA XC is formulated with lidocaine, a type of anesthetic, topical pain relievers aren't necessary. If you and your injector determine that multiple products are appropriate for you, he or she will administer the additional injections during the same appointment. You can expect to be at our office for about 1 hour.

Immediately after your appointment, you can return to most of your regular daily activities. You may notice some mild reactions at or near your injection sites, such as warmth, tenderness, redness, or itching. However, these symptoms typically last for only a couple of days, and they can be concealed with makeup.
